General Pattonlaan — Emission-Free Reconstruction

Project background

In September 2024, Dura Vermeer, commissioned by the municipality of Eindhoven, started the reconstruction of sewage infrastructure and paving on the General Pattonlaan. The project is part of the Clean Air Agreement and aims to improve air quality in the city centre.

The General Pattonlaan is situated in a densely built urban environment. Conventional diesel machines were contractually excluded for this reason, so all work was carried out with large, fully electric machines and vehicles.

Unitial’s role

Unitial Technologies was responsible for data measurement and monitoring of all electric machine deployments. With the Energy Dashboard, actual energy consumption per machine was tracked accurately, enabling continuous optimisation of charging schedules. We mapped out the energy requirements in advance and translated these into a charging plan for the machines.

In this specific project we also developed energy loggers that can be placed between consumers. With these we mapped out energy profiles that are typical for the electric construction site. Findings from this project led to the idea of Smart Box.
